MASTERIS supports HEXAFRET in maintaining ERTMS/KVB in Operational Conditions on the BB27000
Since the end of 2024, MASTERIS has been ensuring the Maintenance in Operational Conditions (MCO) of the ERTMS/KVB system installed on the 12 BB27000 locomotives on behalf of HEXAFRET. This contract, established in close collaboration with the Material Engineering Center (CIN) of SNCF Voyageurs, illustrates the ability of MASTERIS to mobilize technical expertise to meet the needs of its freight customers.
Tailor-made support
In order to guarantee the continuity of operations at the end of the equipment warranty period, HEXAFRET called on MASTERIS to structure a complete MCO offer. This is based both on the internal skills of MASTERIS and on the services already offered by the CIN.
The benefits that make up the MCO are as follows:
- Maintenance of ERTMS/KVB equipment
- Remote Technical Troubleshooting Support
- Parts maintenance and logistics
- Updating maintenance documentation
- Training for freight agents at ERTMS/KVB
- Maintenance of tools and software tools relating to the maintenance of ERTMS/KVB equipment
- Maintenance of the IS software tool for dealing with fault codes
- Maintenance of monitoring and measurement tools/software in the event of a major malfunction
- Engineering and reliability services
- Analysis of Feedback on the BB27000 and Proposal of Reliability Actions
- Facilitation of monthly working groups to identify and implement improvement actions in terms of reliability
- Organization of quarterly FMDS reviews (Reliability, Maintainability, Availability, Security)
- Obsolescence monitoring
A long-term mission
The contract is scheduled until the end of 2027, with an option for reliable working groups in 2026 and 2027. It is long-term and aims to optimize the performance of the ERTMS/KVB system over the long term.
By mobilizing its know-how in contract management, maintenance engineering and client-supplier interfaces, MASTERIS reinforces its role as a reference technical partner for rail freight operators.

In Dakar, we are far from major European rail networks, so in the event of incidents it is important to be able to react quickly and independently. This is why it was important to improve the skills of the teams in lifting our Coradia machines and our work trains. MASTERIS was able to respond quickly and effectively to our expectations.
Within Hexafret, regulatory monitoring already exists on which ECE relies. However, it proved necessary to complete this monitoring in order to cover all the countries in which Hexafret operates, in particular Germany, Spain and Italy. Hexafret therefore turned to MASTERIS in 2024 to provide this service.
After a first year of collaboration, Hexafret satisfied with both the content and the contractual relationship, extended the regulatory monitoring contract in 2025. We appreciate its synthetic side.
