A major international contract in the urban rolling stock market

Bogies and brakes are a critical safety component of rolling stock, requiring a major mid-life overhaul at the 1.2 million km mark.
Transdev Dublin, a Masteris client for two and a half years,
has once again placed its trust in our teams for the overhaul of the braking systems on its 40 Citadis 401 trainsets. The Masteris and SNCF Matériel teams (technical, industrial, commercial, and legal) responded with a bespoke service offering tailored to the client's needs.

Scheduled maintenance at the SNCF Industrial Technicentre in Rennes

Operating from a new industrial site in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, near Rennes, since 2015, one of France's 10 SNCF Technicentres will be responsible for the overhaul of all components for the 40 Alstom Citadis 401 trainsets starting in late 2021 for a duration of 3 years. The Rennes industrial technicentre was selected for the project due to its specialization in the maintenance of hydraulic braking systems for trams and metros.
This new export contract with Transdev joins existing contracts with several French metropolitan areas, including Lyon, Lille, Grenoble, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Rouen, and Toulouse, as well as other operators in Europe (Brussels and Florence). The operational teams will be fully mobilized to support Transdev Dublin and the Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) authority in this new strategic mid-life maintenance operation.

Masteris will support the client in the continued operation of its Citadis fleet for 5 additional years of service with the implementation of reliability upgrades for its braking equipment.
This primarily involves improving the reliability of brake calipers and control units following aging issues after 17 years of commercial operation.

Improved brake pad guidance

The goal is toincrease reliability and availability for the operation of the Citadis 401 trainsets on the red line.

A Masteris x SNCF Matériel collaboration

Masteris and SNCF Matériel teams are involved in defining a comprehensive, custom-made engineering and industrial maintenance solution to meet the challenges of this new contract by providing:

-           An industrial and capacity-building tool for the industrial renovation of brakes,
- Design engineering for the integration of a new brushless motor and improved brake pad guidance,
- Hands-on support for project monitoring throughout the 3.5-year production period.

Testimonial from Remi Peltier

It took a while, but we finally signed. The scope isn't exactly what we initially envisioned, but with the help of the Rennes IT team, we were able to meet the client's expectations. We can be proud of our teams' tenacity. Now, let's focus on satisfying our client, who is part of the major Transdev group.
